Romans have owned many others parts of the world throughout history. This includes Spain and Romania, which they used to change the way that individuals think of gold and how it can be processed. Romans where able to do this by introducing new larger scaled methods of extracting gold. These methods that were developed are “hydraulics mining” methods. The primary times that these where used where started in Spain in 25 BC and in Romania starting in 150AD.
As with other parts of the world, there were mines that were very large and some that were smaller. One of the larger mines was in Las Medulas, Leun, which is a part of Spain. This particular mine was able to work with larger alluvial deposits because of having seven entire long aqueducts. There were also parts of Transylvania that had larger mines such as Rosia Montana. Romans were able to make it that there where some steps of the process that did not have to be done by hand which made it much easier to have larger amounts of gold sorted and ready in very short amounts of time.
The Roman’s astounding effect on the world when it came to gold not only had to do with the way in which they mined it but also the ways in which they used it. You can find wonderful Roman art that used gold in very decorative and beautiful manners. You can even see paintings that used golden dust to be painted and there are even some plated golden murals that they would make. These were considered to be very beautiful and advanced gold uses for future generations. There are even some techniques that were used for gold plated at those times that are still used or taken to heart today when working with gold.
